Learning objectives
The aim of this workshop is to provide an advanced knowledge of the new Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) of 2020, the Companion Volume, in order to be able to use it in the planning of a language course and to assess the impact that this key Council of Europe document has had on language teaching.

- the parts of the 2001 CEFR considered to have been acquired in 2020

- the extension of the scales and descriptors
- the descriptive schema as a reference point
- the inclusive model adopted in the volume
- proficiency and its representation in concentric circles
- the importance of plurilingualism and pluriculturalism.

Course syllabus
The programme includes the study of all the new features of the Companion Volume of the Common European Framework of Reference published in 2020: the new descriptors to consider the Pre-A1 level, to integrate levels A, B and C, to describe phonological mastery on the basis of message intelligibility and not on the native speaker level, to describe mediation that had not been developed but only envisaged in the past, to illustrate plurilingualism and pluriculturalism, to consider literature not only for linguistic purposes but also for the emotions it can arouse, to include online interaction, which lies between oral and written forms of language, and the use of telecommunications. After this mainly theoretical phase, the Action Oriented Approach will be applied through the construction of an actional 'scenario'.
Prerequisites for admission
Ongoing study of at least one foreign language or Italian as a second language.

The course adopts the following teaching methods: classroom lessons and Moodle-based exercises.
