Learning objectives
The aim of this workshop is to provide an advanced knowledge of the new Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) of 2020, the Companion Volume, in order to be able to use it in the planning of a language course and to assess the impact that this key Council of Europe document has had on language teaching.

Students will know at the end of the workshop
- the structure of the Companion Volume
- the criteria for consulting the volume
- what is new in 2020 compared to the 2001 edition.
- the parts of the 2001 CEFR considered to have been acquired in 2020
- the four modes of communication: reception, production, interaction and mediation
- the extension of the scales and descriptors
- the descriptive schema as a reference point
- the inclusive model adopted in the volume
- proficiency and its representation in concentric circles
- the importance of plurilingualism and pluriculturalism.
