Course syllabus
The program of the course covers the following topics:
· sample collection and handling
· test selectivity and specificity (tumor markers)
· requirements for screening tests (Guthrie's test, occult blood - FOBT)
· immunological tests (pregnancy and rubeola)
· clinical enzymology (myocardial infarction)
· complete blood count (anemia)
· bacterial infections (Helicobacter pylori)
· viral infections (HIV)
· conformational diseases (deficit of alpha1-antitrypsin)
