Teaching Workshop: Multimedia Dramaturgy
A.Y. 2025/2026
Learning objectives
The aim of the 20 hours is to have a sufficiently comprehensive picture of the forms of transmedia multimedia dramaturgical writing and to begin to extend this theoretical and critical knowledge to a practical storytelling activity connected with portals, sites, online audiovisual products, blogs/Vlogs, social media, web radio (such as soundcloud). The activities can be: virtual exhibitions on an artist, critical multimedia paths. Each student will preliminarily choose the language, format and platform with which they intend to work, tailoring their writing and/or visual or sound sequence (stories via Instagram, virtual environments on VR Chat, vlogging via Youtube, streaming etc.) or immersive via VR around these.
Expected learning outcomes
The result is given by the series of personal works and interventions, coordinated by the teacher, on themes established in advance, and distributed during the workshop on the web pages intended for carrying out individual or group work. For the first phases of the exercise, reference addresses and websites will be provided as well as an extensive bibliography.

Course syllabus
After a first lesson dedicated to the theme of multimedia dramaturgy, we will try to map virtual archives, social platforms, web pages and immersive environments (also thanks to the use of the OCULUS visor in class) dedicated to the theme of technotheatre (with artists such as Kamilia Kard, Martin Romeo, Margherita Landi). Furthermore, we will gain experience on platforms such as Google Arts & Culture that make available virtual exhibitions created by cultural institutions, or LIEU.city, which focus on the creation of social VR for virtual exhibitions. We will look for examples of online shows on Metaverse via Decentraland, Roblox SPatial or Fortnite,
Prerequisites for admission
No requirements are required
Teaching methods
The lab aims to learn about the so-called "short forms of "critical story telling" in which to be able to synthesize artists' paths, techno-theatrical narrative formats. We will try to experiment with the use of stories via Instagram with elaborate and effective creation on the communication level, of artists' biographies; we will try virtual rooms for the design of exhibition spaces in Metaverse environments with experimentation of different platforms, including social ones. To create virtual exhibitions, various platforms are available such as Artsteps, Kunstmatrix, and Mozilla Hubs with or without augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR).
