Learning objectives
This workshop consists of the archaeological excavation of an important Roman villa, located a few kilometres from Rome and not far from Ostia Antica: Villa A of Dragoncello (Acilia - Ostia). This activity offers students the opportunity to learn the basics of archaeological survey, stratigraphic excavation and the study of finds. Several visits to the territory and city of Ostia Antica will be planned, as well as many seminars on geophysical survey and excavation techniques, and on the study of ceramics. A further aim of this lab is to allow students to enrich their knowledge of the history and archaeology of the area of Rome and Ostia.
Expected learning outcomes
Learning of methodologies about field intervention, archaeological surveys and the study of finds; involvement in geophysical surveys.
