Teaching Workshop: Doing Research in the L2 Classroom: Methods and Tools
A.Y. 2025/2026
Learning objectives
The workshop aims to illustrate some qualitative and quantitative research methodologies, along with the related tools, for the design of small research projects on the learning and teaching of a second language, which may be intended for a master's dissertation or to be carried out during teaching or tutoring experiences.
Expected learning outcomes
At the end of the workshop, students will have acquired basic knowledge related to four types of methodologies used in research on the acquisition and teaching of a second language (L2): observational, experimental, case study, and action research. They will be able to analyze and evaluate examples of tools related to each type of research (such as observation grids, questionnaires, tests) to collaboratively design a small study in its main phases according to a specific research methodology.
