Learning objectives
The course aims to provide students with the theoretical knowledge and practical skills necessary to:
· Understand the role of clinical interviews and anamnesis in the neuropsychological diagnostic process.
· Develop the ability to conduct effective anamnesis interviews with patients affected by cognitive, neurological, or psychiatric disorders.
· Integrate information collected during the interview into diagnostic formulation and rehabilitation planning.
· Recognize ethical and professional considerations in the context of neuropsychological assessment.
Expected learning outcomes
By the end of the course, students will be able to:
· Conduct a structured anamnesis interview and obtain relevant information for clinical cases.
· Critically analyze the collected data and integrate it with other neuropsychological assessment results.
· Adapt their communication style to meet the specific needs of each patient.
· Recognize the limits of their competencies and effectively collaborate with other professionals.

Introduction to the Neuropsychological Interview
· Characteristics and objectives of clinical interviews in neuropsychology.
· Differences between diagnostic and therapeutic interviews.
· Principles of effective communication with patients and their families.
The Anamnesis Process
· Definition and objectives of anamnesis in neuropsychology.
· Structure of anamnesis: personal data, medical history, environmental, and family factors.
· Relevance of anamnesis data in diagnosis and intervention planning.
Tools and Techniques for Interviews and Anamnesis
· Use of observation grids and standardized protocols.
· Interview techniques: direct and semi-structured approaches.
· Adapting interviews for specific patient populations (e.g., older adults, patients with language deficits, pediatric patients).
Ethical and Relational Aspects
· Privacy and informed consent.
· Managing emotions and empathy in clinical contexts.
· Building a therapeutic alliance with patients and their families.
Data Integration
· Transforming anamnesis data into diagnostic hypotheses.
· Integrating anamnesis with clinical observation and neuropsychological testing.
· Practical examples from clinical cases.

Teaching methods
Theoretical and practical lessons, class discussions, analysis of research works, theoretical and
reading and analysis of scientific articles, case studies and practical exercises.

Bibliography will be provided during the course and uploaded to the MyAriel website.
Assessment methods and Criteria
The exam will consist of a written test comprising 62 multiple-choice questions (4 options per question, with only one correct answer). Assessment will focus on the correctness of the acquired knowledge and the critical reasoning applied to these concepts.
· Grading will be on a 30-point scale.
· A distinction (cum laude) will be awarded to students answering all questions correctly.
