Learning objectives
The workshop aims at providing students with the methods of reading, analysis and interpretation of both historiographical sources and epigraphical documents, connected with ancient Italy.
Expected learning outcomes
Upon successful completion of the workshop, the students will have acquired the instruments necessary to the study, comprehension and interpretation of historiographical sources and epigraphical documents related to the history of ancient Italy.

Course syllabus
The workshop will focus on the analysis of epigraphic documents and literary sources, in Latin and in Greek (as well as in translation), which can be useful to study social, economic, political, cultural and religious issues related to the local communities of Italy in the Roman age.
Prerequisites for admission
Knowledge of Latin and ancient Greek Latin is a preferential prerequisite.
Teaching methods
In the course of the workshop issues and problems will be approached starting from the analysis of the ancient sources. Furthermore, the students will be encouraged to analyze and comment a selection of epigraphic documents and literary texts, in class together with the teacher or autonomously.
Teaching Resources
Powerpoint presentations, ancient texts and relative bibliography will be uploaded on the platform Ariel throughout the course.
Assessment methods and Criteria
Students' active participation in the class and related activities will be specifically evaluated.
