Learning objectives
This workshop aims to develop knowledge about urban sustainability and commercial resilience practices based on the key concepts of place, non-place and hyper-place. Students will be provided with the quantitative, qualitative and graphic tools for the study of commercial centralities: GDO structures and the traditional retail network.
Expected learning outcomes
At the end of the workshop the student will have to know the main phases of the evolution of the relationship between territorial and commercial systems in a historical and geographical perspective. They will also learn how these changes can evolve in the future at different scales.
Moreover, students should be able to use social geography tools to analyze these changes.

Teaching methods
The course includes the use of innovative teaching methodologies, such as participatory lessons, flipped classroom, outdoor education and CLIL (Content Language Integrated Learning).
Following the indications coming from the recent European policies, the course proposes to integrate disciplinary contents through practical activities carried out directly in the field. As part of this experimentation, two meetings of the workshop will be held in English with episodes of code-switching and alternation in Italian (CLIL mode): it is the lesson of Saturday, October 30 (2 hours) and the output on the territory scheduled for November 6 (4 hours).
The remaining part of the course (14 hours) will use Italian as a vehicular language.
Teaching Resources
The material will be provided during the course.
Assessment methods and Criteria
tudents will be asked to present in the classroom the methods and results of a fieldwork, which will be evaluated taking into account the following factors:
