Learning objectives
The workshop, which is part of the activities of the Inter-University Centre Geolitterae - The Spatial Imaginary between Literature and Geography), is addressed to students in the three-year degre, preferably in the second and third year, as well as Master's degree students. The aim is to reflect on the intersections between geography and literature and to provide examples of interdisciplinary textual analysis. The intersections and crossovers between literature and geography are central aspects of contemporary culture, although these two disciplines have been dialoguing with each other since ancient times. A number of case studies will be considered, prompting students to submit themes and texts for their final presentation. Some members of the Centre Geolitterae will also participate in the meetings.
Expected learning outcomes
At the end of the workshop, the students will be able to understand the value of interdisciplinary practices, to use the tools of analysis in a critical way and to draw up forms of imaginative geographies in different types of texts. In addition, they will have the opportunity to discuss several approaches and ideas and to experience group work. Selected materials from the presentations will be published on https://geolitterae.unimi.it/.
