It privileges students in the second-third year of Bachelor's degrees and students of Master's degrees (first and second year) of all degree programs of the Faculty of Humanities. Knowledge of at least one foreign language at the B2 level or higher is recommended.
The workshop is held in Italian. Students' practical tests are partly in Italian and partly in their best-known foreign language.
Teaching methods
Class attendance is mandatory. The workshop consists of lectures designed to provide students with the basic tools necessary to conduct a guided tour, with a particular focus on the Ca' Granda.
Students will learn to study objects using both diachronic and synchronic approaches.
Select and organize information in a relevant and systematic way.
Use discipline-specific terminology consciously.
Develop an awareness of the value of an interdisciplinary approach.
Historically contextualize the monument and make connections with the city's cultural offerings during the planning period of the visit.
Express critical appreciation by articulating your own opinions.
Develop and show empathy toward other ways of feeling and thinking.
Develop self-assessment skills.
Public speaking, organizing, and leading a guided tour (individual practice test).
Students will acquire these skills firstly through in-depth study of research tools and sources, and secondly through a guided tour of Ca' Granda and practice tests in front of their peers. Classroom discussions with the teacher are an integral part of the teaching method, aiming to foster a critical spirit and the ability to apply acquired skills and knowledge in students.
Teaching Resources
Materials, such as slides, texts, videos, and documents, will be indicated during the meetings and uploaded to the lab's MyAriel portal.
International and Erasmus incoming students are encouraged to contact the course instructor in a timely manner to arrange the program, which can be done in French if desired.
Assessment methods and Criteria
Mode: the final assessment will be based on attendance, active participation in lectures, and performance on any assigned practical tests.
The assessment parameters are the ability to expound knowledge neatly, the ability to reflect critically on the topics studied, the quality, linearity, and clarity of exposition, and competence in the use of specific vocabulary.
The final grade will be an "Approved/Not Approved" grade with no possibility of rejection.
Arrangements for the participation and evaluation of students with disabilities must be made in advance with the teacher and the relevant office.
