Learning objectives
The course aims to provide students with the fundamental concepts of Organic Chemistry and Physical Chemistry. In the section on organic chemistry, the main classes of organic compounds will be discussed in terms of nomenclature, chemical structure, and basic reactivity. The connections between organic compounds, the environment, and society will be highlighted, with particular reference to the artistic field. In the section on physical chemistry, the fundamentals of thermodynamics and chemical kinetics will be presented, with applications to materials and systems of interest in the analysis and preservation of cultural heritage.
Expected learning outcomes
At the end of the course, the students will be able to solve analytical problems of intermediate difficulty, especially regarding cultural heritage materials, developing an analytical procedure and interpreting the resulting experimental data.
