Learning objectives
The main educational goal is the strengthening of technical skills, such as recognizing, describing and digging contexts.
It also aims to improve autonomy in the drawing up of the archaeological record.
Finally, a further objective is to provide professionalizing skills useful to find work as field archaeologist.
Expected learning outcomes
Ability to independently perform the main fieldwork tasks in prehistoric sites, i.e.:
- excavation of contexts,
- recording of documentation,
- archaeological findings management and storing.

Course syllabus and organization

Single session

Lesson period
Second semester
Course syllabus
Day 1:
Informations provision on the specific risks to which partecipants may be exposed by attending to on site activities.
Context presentation and objectives of the ongoing investigation.
Introduction to excavations, to methodologies, practices and tools used in carrying out the research.
From day 2 to the end of the workshop:
Fieldwork and practical activities: excavation and recording of paper, graphic and photographic documentation.
Finds management, classification and archiving.
Prerequisites for admission
Recommended requirement: Laboratorio di scavo didattico.

Assessment methods and Criteria
Test of the attendance and correct execution of the activities and practices carried out.
