Learning objectives
The aim of the workshop is to explore travel literature in the production of several literary traditions. The literature of the United States and other Literatures in English will be privileged. Literary texts will have to be read and discussed in English, with the aim of emphasizing, through analysis and discussion, the connections between journeys into nature and into knowledge (of the self, of the world). Nature writing, travel writing and ecocriticism will be used as critical and theoretical perspectives.
Expected learning outcomes
During the workshop, students will acquire the following critical skills for a literary analysis: the ability to evaluate works of travel writing from a formal/aesthetic point of view, and the ability to contextualize them from a cultural and historical point of view.
