Learning objectives
Le specie animali invasive, in genere alloctone, costituiscono una minaccia importante per la biodiversità in tutta Europa. A queste si aggiungono alcune specie autoctone, sia di volatili che di mammiferi, che hanno un impatto negativo sulle colture agricole e sulla zootecnia. Lo scopo di questo corso è dare informazioni sulle interazione tra specie invasive e specie animali di interesse zootecnico,  sulle tecniche monitoraggio e di controllo, approfondendo manche gli aspetti igienico- sanitari. Il corso verterà su lezioni teoriche svolte in aula e pratiche direttamente in campo.

lectures:
native and non-native invasive fauna in Europe and Italy (2 hours)
biology and ecology of the avian species harmful (Cornacchia, pigeon, cormorant, other bird species) (2 hours)
biology and ethology of the main species of harmful small mammals (Nutria, Cottontail) (2 hours)
biology and ethology of the main species of large carnivores harmful in Italy (wolf, bear, lynx, fox) (2 hours)
Monitoring methods and control of invasive species and large carnivores (3 hours)
health and hygiene management of invasive species and large carnivores (5 hours)

exercises:
practice of monitoring activities (4 hours)
Practical activities control (trapping, construction of electric fencesetc ..) (4 hours)
Recognition of damage to agricultural crops (4 hours)
