Learning objectives
The aim of the course is to give students all the possible tools to be able to evaluate the type of reactor that is best for the chemical process being studied. Process optimization and basic cost evaluation will be taken into account
Expected learning outcomes
at the end of the course the students will be able to manage simple reactions from the chemical engineering point of view, evaluating the chemical kinetics and sizing the ideal reactor to carry out the chemical reaction to the study.

Goals

Mass and energy balances
Chemical kinetics homogeneous and heterogeneous
Study and sizing of batch reactors
Study and sizing of continuous reactors (PFR and CSTR) Reactors for biphasic and triphasic kinetics.
Optimization of the times, dimensions and costs of the chemical reactor
Suggested prerequisites
Fluid dynamics and heat transfer courses

Assessment method:
The course includes both a written and an oral exam.
The student's ability to size a chemical reactor under real conditions of use will be evaluated. In addition, the student's capacity to identify the best type of reactor in the various conditions in which a chemical reaction must be conducted will be evaluated.
