Learning objectives
L'insegnamento si propone di fornire allo studente le nozioni teoriche e pratiche della biologia cellulare attraverso la dissertazione delle componenti cellulari a livello strutturale, compositivo e funzionale e del concetto di organizzazione gerarchica multilivellare. Si forniranno inoltre nozioni sulla teoria dell'evoluzione e si prenderà in rassegna la diversità della vita attraverso la prospettiva della moderna sistematica. Il corso consentirà allo studente di acquisire sia un approccio critico allo studio della diversità' della materia vivente che le nozioni propedeutiche allo studio dell'istologia e anatomia animale e della fisiologia.

Introduction to the course; Definition living organisms: molecular and cellular organization (2 hours)
Chemistry of protoplasm (3 hours)
Plasma membrane and cell compartmentalization (4 hours)
Cytoskeleton and morphological and functional specializatoin of muscle tissue cells (4 hour)
Cellular adhesion and communication (3 hours)
Energy metabolism of animal and plant cells (3 hours)
Nucleus and Genome: structural and functional aspects (6 hours)
Gametogenesis, development and differentiation, apoptosis (4 hours)
The plant cell (1 hour)
The theory of evolution; basic concepts of tassonomy and biological systematic; introduction to the diversity of the animal kindom; main characteristics and classification of vertebrate and invertebrate animals (10 hours)
Practice (1 CFU)
The scientific method; Instrumental approach to the study of living matter (cell cultures, optical and fluorescence microscopy, live imaging, western blotting and purification of cellular organs, in vitro production of embryos) (8 hours, seminar)
Cell Culture Laboratory (2 hours)
Exercise in the room of microscopy (elements of cytology such as nucleus, membranes and joints, eyelashes and ect flares in different histological preparations) (6 hours)
