A.Y. 2025/2026
Learning objectives
The course has a double goal: to introduce students to the fundamentals of translation theory, and to provide them with practical skills to understand and translate specialised texts and audiovisual materials. Students will also learn how to use AI tools for translation. Furthermore, their independent judgement skills will be enhanced through the study of scientific criteria for evaluating translations.
A particular focus will be placed on strengthening the students' ability to rephrase sentences when translating from one language into the other.

Expected learning outcomes
By the end of the course, students will have a more thorough understanding of the main problems inherent in the translation of specialised texts, as far as terminology, morphosyntax and pragmatics are concerned. They will be able to overcome these difficulties thanks to their in-depth knowledge of the concepts of translation studies, and their enhanced ability to use a variety of translation techniques.
